Raytec Ltd has accepted a major investment in the company from Optex Co Ltd, the Japan-based manufacturer of security and industrial sensors.
In an announcement issued by Raytec, the company said that Optex has taken a “major investment in the 100% share capital of UK lighting manufacturer Raytec”.
Raytec is a global leader in security lighting with a reputation for high performance, high quality products designed, manufactured and supported to the highest standards.
They said the new partnership allows the two companies to capitalise on many common synergies in sales and technology bringing both sensor and lighting technologies together.
Raytec’s three founding directors – Shaun Cutler, David Lambert and Tony Whiting – remain on board and are committed to achieving Raytec’s long term goals.
Shaun Cutler said, “The investment by Optex is exciting and very much welcomed by everyone at Raytec.” The company will continue to operate independently at its UK facility but said it would now have access to more resources to better serve customers and alliance partners across the globe.
Shaun said, “The two companies share many common goals and firmly believe that by working more closely together we can continue to make a difference to the security industry.”
Raytec and Optex often supply complementary products in the field and are used together in major, high security installations and critical infrastructure projects across the globe. Now part of the same group, both technology teams will aim to work together in developing and integrating sensor and LED technologies.
“Teaming up with Optex provides Raytec the opportunity to enhance our production, quality, purchasing and sales activities to deliver world leading products and customer support to Raytec customers around the globe,” said David Lambert, Raytec Sales and Marketing Director.
“Both Optex and Raytec share a passion for green technology and the environment and our new partnership will allow us to further develop products that save time, money and energy for our customers while also enhancing security,” he added.
The Raytec brand will remain in place and Raytec’s focus will remain firmly on innovation and illumination. The company believes that lighting plays a significant role in reducing crime and by teaming up with Optex it hopes to bring new technologies to the market which will help reduce crime and create a safer environment
