Spending on CCTV is Worthwhile

In the field of security systems, the use of CCTV camera system is being highly publicised not because it is the most popular type of security system but because it is the security system that is being constantly attacked by critics. One of such critics is the Big Brother Watch an organisation that emanated from the Taxpayer’s Alliance and have been regarded as one of the main critic with regards to CCTV camera use especially in public places. The Big Brother Watch questions whether or not CCTV camera systems are actually helping in the governments’ effort in crime prevention and even in solving different crimes, this question emanated from the fact that there are sometimes inaccuracies in the data being gathered by the CCTV camera systems. Such negative description by the Big Brother Watch was denied by Pauline Norstrom, the BSIA CCTV section chairman, she stated that the negative assumptions or criticisms being thrown at the CCTV camera systems’ accuracy or effectiveness is without any basis because the reality is, in the United Kingdom police authorities have been using the data gathered by CCTV camera systems in event reconstruction which would help investigators in identifying the identity of the offenders or even identify events that led to the commission of the crime.

Another criticism being assailed by the Big Brother watch is the utilisation of public funding in order to set-up or install the CCTV camera systems in public places, further they have stated that the answer to the growing problem in criminality is by deploying more police officers in the streets. In this contention BSIA replied that the effective use of CCTV camera would reduce the need for any additional police officers but still giving the same if not beyond, effect as when more police officers are deployed, for the same price or much lower price since there is no need to pay the salary of officers. Indeed the use of CCTV camera system is a very powerful weapon that helps police officers in their fight against crime for a lesser cost

Honeywell Releases Commercial Applications’ Wireless Solution for their Line of Intruder Alarm System

With the evolving needs of companies regarding their security systems which may be attributed to the fact that many unscrupulous people have been studying the security systems and have been able to find ways to by-pass such system, the evolution of the security devices should be one of the priorities that security companies should look into. Honeywell, a leading manufacturer of several security devices such as access control systems and intruder alarm systems have heeded the call for an evolution of security products or security devices in order to cope to the needs of the changing times.

One of their initial step toward such evolution of  security devices is the integration of wireless capability to the Galaxy Dimension intruder alarm system and the integration of a wider range of wireless sensors for Honeywell’s G2 hybrid intruder alarm system. The integration and combination in its control panels with radio technologies and the integrated wireless sensors are installed in order to give installers a wire-free option.

The new wireless sensors is integrated with a glassbreak detector, shock sensor, dual technology motion sensor and flood/temperature detector. These sensors are specially made in order to detect specific methods of intrusion. Apart from those mentioned such sensors are also equipped with PIR’s, door and window contacts and panic buttons.

Honeywell developed the wireless solution in line with the needs of both the client or user and the installers. For instance the Galaxy Dimension wireless solution was developed in order to provide revenues for installers by way of lessening or reducing cable maintenance or totally removing significant use of cables in the first place, in addition the Galaxy Dimension intruder alarm system were developed to allow installers to remotely carry-out maintenance. Such features were not only limited to the Galaxy Dimension series but it was extended to the G2 Hybrid which is an intruder alarm system that is designed for small to medium scale business.
