Risk Survey Shows London 2012 Olympic Security Shortfall

Friday, December 18th, 2009

London rejoiced at the anouncement that the country is hosting the 2012 Olympic games. This is indeed good news for both residents and businessmen alike. With barely three years more to go before the actual event London authorities have already started developing the different aspects or factors that could contribute to the success of holding the Olympics in London. Factors such as accommodation, facilities and security are among the top priorities that are being developed and looked into by the London authorities. In the field of security, the authorities have initiated a risk UK survey which revealed several alarming concerns regarding the inadequacy in manpower in guarding the 2012 Olympic Games.

The Risk Survey has shown that the supply of manpower tasked to guard the different locations in the UK where events are going to be held may be lacking and may pose a potential problem to both the event organisers, the UK government and the Olympic Games participants. One main problem causing manpower shortage is the stringent regulatory process that security agencys must undergo before being able to provide security services in the 2012 Olympic Games, it is because of this burden that many people are refusing to engage into providing security during the 2012 Olympic games.

One solution to the problem however is to engage the 2012 Olympic Games organisers to do their part in paying incentives to individuals who will be performing security tasks during the event, this way more trained security personnel will be encouraged to enlist in providing their services during the Games. On a similar note, another possible solution is to have the 2012 Olympic Committee fund the training of new security personnel. New recruits or security personnel must be trained and licensed, which is an onerous financial burden for any security company, but if the Olympic committee would subsidise training and licensing fees this could help solve the manpower issue.

Many private security agencys will realise the opportunity in this situation, as many of them will be called upon to provide manpower, but of course with the caveat that qualified and regulated  security personnel are provided. Should all these fail the last resort could be the engaging of the nation’s people and their spirit of volunteerism, the kind of voluntary service that was given by Australian citizens during the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

New CamVU ICR Introduced by Dedicated Micros

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

Security systems companies have continuously developed ways and means to improve their products and to give clients that degree of customer satisfaction. In the field of CCTV cameras Dedicated Micros is one of the leaders in innovating such CCTV cameras. Recently they have launched their new version of the CamVu ICR or Integrated Camera Recorder. This is a testament that Dedicated Micros does not only focus on the use and development of CCTV cameras but the whole CCTV camera system. It is notable that CCTV camera systems not only include a CCTV camera but also other devices, among these devices are the video recording system, the monitors or monitoring system and even the software integrated with the CCTV camera such as video analytics.

In the latest innovation done by dedicated micros they have developed a CCTV camera with an integrated enterprise class video server. This was developed in order to bring or give clients a failsafe and robust video management and local recording facility within the clients network of CCTV cameras. The CamVu is available in VGA, analogue and megapixel resolution and is capable of one whole day optimal recording because of its thirty-two (32) gigabytes integrated storage capacity which is provided through a microSD card or any other similar device.

In addition to the CamVu’s powerful feature it also integrates with an AoE protocol that allows a point to point transfer of video files in another physically separate storage device, which is a good feature should you like to secure your backup videos or data. Compatibility issues are not a problem with the CamVu ICR from Dedicated Micros because it supports several video stream formats such as MPEG-4 and JPEG, which allows for live recording and viewing. The integrated recording device or the ICR for the CamVu is also packed with powerful features such as multimode recording and its compatibility with any video analytics.

The CamVu ICR is indeed a powerful CCTV camera system as it saves your from purchasing separate devices, instead with the CamVu ICR you will be able to acquire the whole system at once in one single cost.
