Intruder Alarm System Use Projected to Increase

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Crime rates are increasing in the UK wherein the total damage that these crimes committed had already reached nineteen billion pounds (£19,000,000,000). It is because of the increase of crimes at an alarming rate people and citisens in the UK have become more aware of the need to protect themselves by improving their security systems at home and in their place of work or business. With the current increase and developing trends in the manufacturing of intruder alarm technology, the security system market sees a new opportunity for this market most especially those alarm systems that are economical and are within the budget of middle class citisens.

According to the estimate of the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) there is a wide or popular clamor for the purchase and use of security and alert systems, most specifically for intruder alarm system devices. This clamor is not because of the statistical increase in crime rate which the government is actually contesting as such increase is not significant in the overall assessment of the peace and order situation in the UK, rather such clamor was mainly because of the increase in public fear that crimes may be committed against anyone. Such fear thus have caused some homeowners to purchase and installation of security alarm systems or commonly known as intruder alarm systems.

The intruder alarm system started as simple ‘bells-only’ alarm systems, this type of alarm system later on became a subject for debate when the Association of Chief Police Officers Security Systems Policy have provided that those businesses and home owners using such alarm system will be in a Catch 22 situation wherein the police will no longer cater to bells-only alarms. It has to be noted that latest intruder alarm systems have been developed to connect to a central agency which will alert the police if and when the alarm goes off. This is the reason why the need for a central agency to monitor all installed alarm system because the police would require actual proof of a crime actually happening rather than wasting manpower which could still be utilised for other productive endeavors instead of responding to false alarm. This is also why it is advisable for large companies to utilise CCTV camera systems along with the intruder alarm system.
The main reason why the bell-only alarm system is not being advised to be utilised as a home or small business intruder alarm system is because of the fact that such device functions by continuously ringing unless turned off by the owner. This constant noise have become an annoyance which eventually leads to disturbing other people’s peace and privacy especially if the bell-only alarm goes off due to false alarm.

With UK residents and businessmen becoming more aware of the crime situation in their own locality many are preparing for the worst couple that with the economic recovery from the financial crisis expect therefore that many people will look to purchasing intruder alarm systems in the future.
